I went to see Beach House, the Baltimore psych-rock duo, last night for free thanks to my cousin double booking himself.
Sitting in the darkness of the Enmore Theatre beside my lady, I was overcome with exhaustion, opting to rest my eyes through most of the set.
It was a profound experience for the simple reason that music — especially live music — offers so much more than meets the eye.
If you allow your mind to wander, you can explore notions and possibilities that defy the realm of logic. Stars and shapes that swim and swirl, their magnificent iridescence stunning me into contented silence.
It’s a testament to the power of our minds and dreams.
So have the courage to start seeing with your eyes closed.
